Today was a very early start. 6am from the hotel to meet the ferry at 7am. We spent most of the day riding on Whidbey Island, the 2nd largest island in the contiguous 48 states. We rode through lots of residential areas and state parks. One of the highlights of the day was seeing 2 bald eagles sitting on a perch, and then suddenly taking off in flight. Extraordinary. It seemed we were always riding along the shore and seeing Olympic NP mountains in the distance, or as we turned east, the Cascades (which we will enter tomorrow). Another highlight was Deception Pass.
Perfect weather, a great day of riding!
