Day 3 - Winthrop, WA - Coulee Dam, WA

Tough day. Temps over 100 for a good part of the ride, not to mention that there was much more climbing than we anticipated. We went through the Okanogan Forest, and stopped at Loup Loup Pass (not a typo).  Highlights were lunch on the Columbia River and passing Omak Lake. Most of the day we were on the Colville Indian Reservation.  And of course, the Grand Coulee Dam itself (we missed the 10pm laser light show, since we were asleep ;). All very beautiful.

101 miles
6247 ft. of climbing

Leaving Winthrop, WA - nice town!

Fields of wheat on Columbia River Road.

Lake Omak

It felt like we were all alone, as the temps started to soar.

Lunch stop overlooking the Columbia River.

It was so hot we would have jumped in if we were close enough.

That's the town of Coulee Dam and the dam itself in the distance (click the pic to see larger).

  1. Beautiful! Sorry to hear it's still so hot. Hopefully the heat will abate soon.
