Day 5 - Spokane, WA - Sandpoint, ID

What an awesome day. After crossing Washington state the past 4 days, we arrived in Idaho. Moderate temperatures, beautiful blue skies, and lake Pend Oreille made for a lovely ride. In anticipation of the upcoming days, one of which is 136 miles, we decided to ride very easy today and take in the beautiful scenery. While riding on Dufort Road, a small, quiet side road which travels east alongside the river, we saw perches (photo below) that looked to have either osprey or baby eagles nesting on them. It was incredible to see these birds. The bridge over Pend Oreille lake was really beautiful.  It's a large 'pond' and everything around it is green.

When we rode into Sandpoint, we went through the main street.  Lots of shops and tourists around.  We stopped for ice cream on the way to the hotel, which wasn't far from town.  Joel looked on TripAdvisor (again) for the highest rated restaurants and we walked back into town with Cindy and John (a husband and wife tandem team with a very cool bike).

After dinner, we were both exhausted, so we got a bucket of ice (Shuli's achilles needed some lovin') and we prepped for tomorrow.  Another great day on PacTour.

Pend Oreille, pronounced Pond Oray is a beautiful county, and lake. Worth the trip.
